What we collect, why, and what we do with it.

The Short Version
We are a two-person chameleon breeding operation, not a data business. We collect the details you send us so we can reply to your inquiry and arrange your order. We do not sell your information to anyone, ever.
Who We Are
EctothermInc LLC, based in Winchester, Virginia. You can reach us at info@ectotherminc.com with any question about this policy or your information.
What We Collect
Only what you choose to send us. Typically that means:
- Your name and email address
- Your phone number, if you provide one
- Your general location (city and state)
- What you tell us about your experience and your enclosure setup
- Anything else you write in a message to us
If you go on to buy an animal, we will also hold the shipping details needed to get it to you, and a record of the sale.
How We Use It
- To reply to your inquiry and answer your questions
- To confirm the chameleon you have requested and provide care advice
- To issue an invoice and arrange shipping or expo pickup
- To provide ongoing support after your animal goes home
- To keep our own records of which animal went where
We will not add you to a marketing list without asking, and we do not send unsolicited email.
Payments
Payments are processed by Square. Your card details go directly to Square and are never seen, handled or stored by us. Square's own privacy policy governs how they handle that information.
This Website
This website runs on WordPress. Our website host and form security services process technical information, such as web requests and IP addresses, to operate and protect the site. We do not use advertising trackers.
We do load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers when a page loads. Your standard web request information, including your IP address, is visible to Google as part of that.
Our contact form sends the details you enter through the website so we can receive and respond to your inquiry by email. Where enabled, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a submission comes from a person; it receives verification information rather than your inquiry message. You can also contact us directly by email.
Who We Share It With
We do not sell or rent your information. We share it only where we have to:
- Square, to process your payment
- FedEx and UPS, to ship your animal to you
- Where we are legally required to do so
How Long We Keep It
Inquiries that do not lead anywhere are kept for a reasonable period in case you come back to us, then deleted. Sales records are kept as long as we need them for tax, legal and animal-record purposes.
Your Choices
Email us at info@ectotherminc.com and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct anything wrong, or delete it, subject to any records we are legally required to keep.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. Chameleons can be wonderful family animals, but the purchasing adult is who we will deal with.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
