How It Works

Five steps from your first message to your chameleon settling into its new home. Here is exactly what happens at each one.

Our approach

No Shopping Cart. On Purpose.

You cannot add a living animal to a basket and check out. Not here, anyway.

A panther chameleon is a five to eight year commitment that needs specific lighting, specific humidity and a specific kind of attention. Selling one to somebody who is not ready helps nobody, least of all the chameleon. So we talk first, every single time.

None of this is meant to be a hurdle. Most consultations are a friendly call of about twenty minutes, where we show you animals, you show us your setup, and we both work out whether this is a good fit.

Contact Us

Fill in the consultation form, email us at info@ectotherminc.com, or message us on Facebook or Instagram. Whatever is easiest.

Tell us roughly:

  • Your experience with chameleons, if any (complete beginners are welcome)
  • What you already have set up, or what you are planning to buy
  • Whether you are hoping for a male or a female, and why
  • Where you are, and whether you would collect at an expo or need shipping

Typical response time: within 24–48 hours.

We Talk

We start with a phone call, mostly so we both know we are dealing with a real person. After that it is whatever suits you: a video call, or photos and messages back and forth. This is the heart of how we sell, and it goes both ways. You are checking us out just as much as we are checking you out.

However we do it, we will:

  • Walk you through the breeding room and show you animals, live on camera or in photos
  • Answer anything you want to ask about husbandry, cost or commitment
  • Look at your enclosure plan and flag anything that needs changing
  • Be straight with you if we think the timing is not right yet

There is no charge for the consultation and no obligation at the end of it. If you decide to wait six months and get your setup dialed in first, that is a good outcome.

We Match You to a Chameleon

This is where individual raising pays off. Because every animal has grown up on its own, we know each one as an individual, who is bold, who is shy, who eats like a horse, who takes a moment to settle.

We factor in:

  • Your experience level. Confident, robust animals go to first-time keepers.
  • Your enclosure. Size and setup determine what age and sex makes sense.
  • What you are hoping for. Color, sex, temperament, future breeding plans.
  • Timing. Nothing ships or transfers under six months of age.

If nothing we currently have is right for you, we will say so and put you on the list for the next clutch rather than push an animal that does not fit.

Invoice & Payment

Once we have agreed on an animal, we send a Square invoice by email. You can pay it by card from your phone. We never handle your card details ourselves, and we will never ask you for them over the phone or in a message.

The invoice will clearly itemize:

  • The chameleon, identified by clutch and individual ID
  • Shipping cost, if you are not collecting at an expo
  • Any accessories you have asked us to include, such as a feeder system

Your chameleon is reserved the moment the invoice is settled, and comes off the available list immediately.

Watch Out for Impostors

We only ever invoice through Square, from an email address ending @ectotherminc.com, and the invoice is always paid by card. We will never ask for payment by gift card, wire transfer, cryptocurrency or a friends-and-family app transfer. If someone claiming to be us asks for that, it is not us. Please tell us.

Homecoming

The last step, and the best one. Depending on what we agreed, your chameleon either travels overnight courier or comes home with you from an expo table.

Either way, you go home with:

  • A care sheet specific to your animal and how it has been kept
  • Its hatch record: lay date, hatch date and lineage
  • Our contact details for questions at any hour

Then the important part: leave them alone. Give your chameleon a full week to settle in with minimal handling. Mist, feed, and let them work out that this is home now.
